What it is

Pond Mosaic sizes pond liners and underlay, works out pond volume in litres and US and UK gallons, suggests pump and filter flows and reads a pump's chart at your head height, gives fish stocking ranges and feeding by water temperature, plans a wildlife pond, lists pond plants by planting depth and keeps a month-by-month pond calendar. Metric and imperial sit side by side everywhere.

Where the figures come from

Every tool page ends with a short “Sources” list: the RHS, the Freshwater Habitats Trust, liner and pump makers' own instructions (Firestone, Hozelock, Blagdon, Aquascape), university extension services (Penn State, Texas A&M and the Southern Regional Aquaculture Center), the Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association, the RSPCA, the USDA PLANTS Database, NIST and UK legislation for unit definitions and invasive plants, and Ofgem and the US EIA for electricity prices. Where sources disagree, the page shows each one. Where nothing reliable could be found, the figure is left out. Time-bound figures, such as electricity prices and legal lists, say the date they were checked.

How it works

The calculators run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, there are no accounts, ads or cookies, and the pages keep working offline once loaded. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type into the tools. The privacy page has the details.
